According to the online version of Automotive News Europe, a contract for the combined sale of Ford Motor Company's Jaguar and Land Rover divisions is set to be signed on 5 or 6 March.
The deal is claimed to be close to closing but Ford or Europe is anxious that such an announcement does not steal the limelight from the unveiling of its forthcoming Fiesta. The replacement for its second-best seller will be unveiled at the Geneva motor show on 4 March.
The magazine states that the date for the deal's announcement has been agreed upon by Tata Motors, Ford and Unite, the UK vehicle industry's largest union. ANE refrains from quoting sources within any of the relevant OEMs to back up its claimed dates.
